2 PC Mission Matters e-Newsletter: Volume 1, Issue 5, September, 2010
Jesus sent us to be his hands, feet and voice for a world in need of hope. The church is called by God to be witnesses of what God has done in Jesus Christ, and what God will do when Jesus comes again. At 2PC, our mission is to share the heart of Christ in the heart of the community. As a church, we are called to help serve the needs of both the local community and the world.
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. Mark 10:45
. . . from the Global & Local Mission Teams
Stop, Look, & Listen! God has called 2 PC members to continue to make mission our focus, and big news is coming. On Sunday, September 26, the teams will be launching the mission focus for the year, and we promise a year that will be exciting in the work we do, emotional in the impact that work has, and fulfilling of our promise to God as we continue in our calling to be a missional church.
Global Mission Partners: In the Field
. . . from DeAnn Worth, Global Mission Team Member: Chiapas, Mexico
DeAnn asks for our prayers as she travels to our Mission Partner in Chiapas, Mexico, from October 9 through October 17 as part of a Medical Mission team diagnosing and treating the native population who travel on foot and by cart from miles away to seek treatment at the nearly completed clinic. We wish her Godspeed and look forward to her report on the progress of the clinic and its patients. Through our commitment to Chiapas, 2 PC members and friends are able to continue God's work there.
Local Mission Partners: In Our Community
. . . from Don Crittenden and the Local Mission Team: Restroacion Church
Thanks to the David, Jr., and Josue Santana for their contributions to the successful mission trip to Chiapas, Mexico, in May where they were invaluable members of the team. The Restoracion Church has met in our building for the past five years. Led by Pastor David Santana and his family, this church reaches out to the growing Hispanic population in our community. Several countries are represented among their members including Mexico, Guatemala, and El Salvador. Our partnership with them enhances our ability to share the heart of Christ in the heart of the community by providing a bridge culturally and linguistically to Spanish people among us.

Other Mission Connections: Calls to Action
. . . from Linda Schaefer, 2 PC Deacon
Planning has already begun for the 2011 13th Annual Downtown Bloomington Block Party. The first event is a Bake Sale fundraiser being held on Saturday morning, September 11, in downtown Bloomington. Members may contribute bakery items to sell by contacting Linda Schaefer, at 662-2030. You may also wander to downtown Bloomington and look over the array of goods and make a purchase; proceeds will provide school supplies and medical check ups to our downtown citizens. If you have a heart for the mission of the Block Party, Linda Schaefer can provide that information as well.
. . . from Carol White, 2 PC Local Missions Team Member and SOS Coordinator
The next SoS (Serving on Saturday) Mission Day will be Saturday, September 25. The day will begin with a light breakfast at 8:30 AM and a brief devotion at 2 PC. We'll then break into small groups to go to various sites around the community to serve until noon. The locations for this SoS Mission Day include Habitat ReStore, Pregnancy Resource Center, Recycling Furniture for Families, Western Avenue Community Center, and cleaning up the neighborhood around 2 PC. This is a great opportunity for small groups to serve together as well as for individual members to forge new friendships. You can sign up to participate in this service day at the Connection Point on Sundays in September or by calling Kim at the church office at 828-6297. If you have any questions, contact Carol White at 662-4862 or at carolwhite77@gmail.com.
. . . from Joy Haning, 2 PC Member
Watch for news about 2PC's participation in Church World Service's CROP Hunger Walk coming to McLean County this fall. We'll keep you posted, or contact Joy Haning at jhaning@hotmail.com if you would like to be involved in the planning.
