Jesus' First Sermon

In Jesus’ first sermon, he talks about the kingdom of heaven—his dominant theme in the gospel of Matthew. This kingdom of heaven can be understood as that time/place where everything is the way that God wants it to be. Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection initiated the Kingdom, but it will only be here in force when Jesus returns at his second coming. Although we cannot build the kingdom through our actions, by repenting, we can reflect the values of the kingdom to those around us, so that they get a glimpse of the kingdom.
