Kingdom Tales
8/30/09 “The Confusion King” (Sermon #5 from “Kingdom Tales” series) Texts: Isaiah 25:6-9; Matthew 22:1-14 (primary)
The parable of the wedding banquet appears to feature a “confusion king” who is determined to have every seat at the wedding banquet filled, but who then kicks out someone who was hastily brought in for not wearing the right clothes. However, when we realize that we have to accept a royal invitation on the king’s terms, not on our own terms, the king starts to make more sense. God invites all of us into a relationship with him, but when we accept that invitation, God expects (and strengthens) us to look more and more like Jesus.
