10/11/09 “Sacrificial Giving?”  (Sermon #1 from “Sharing the Blessings” series)  Texts:  Ecclesiastes 5:13-19; 1 Timothy 6:6-10, 17-19 (primary)

The culture tells us that amassing lots of money is the most important thing, but Paul tells us that the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.  When we invest generously in God’s work in the world, on the other hand, we take hold of the life that is truly life.  The sermon also includes Dr. Hardwick’s testimony of leaving the world of consulting in order to go to seminary, and an invitation to the congregation to pray about and contribute toward a 2010 budget which is 4 to 6% higher than 2009’s.
