The Kingdom Created and Fallen (IV)
1/24/10 “A Second Chance” (Sermon #4 from “The Kingdom Created and Fallen” series) Texts: Genesis 6:9-22 (selections) (primary); 1 Peter 3:20b-22
It is easy to either get caught up with the “cuteness factor” of all the animals going two by two onto Noah’s ark, or get distracted by how mean God appears to be as he all but destroys creation through the flood. Instead, we can see in this passage God’s anger, disappointment, and sadness by our sin (which mars his original intent), and how the flood occurred in order to give humanity a second chance to experience the goodness of creation. Our sin does not thwart God’s purposes.
