4/25/10 “Sacrificial Giving and the Tipping Point”  (Sermon #2 from “Let Your Light Shine!” series)  Texts:  Ezra 2:68-3:6 (primary text); 2 Corinthians 9:6-11

The Ezra passage finds the Israelites giving sacrificially toward the reconstruction of the Temple upon their return from exile—they give $20 million (in current terms) plus many, many animal sacrifices.  The 2 Corinthians passage explains why they might do that—because when they do, God blesses them and they become richer.  (“Richer” does not necessarily indicate financial riches.)  When our giving becomes more sacrificial, we move beyond the tipping point beyond which God can bring us joy.
