The Coming of the King
8/22/10 “I am the Bread of Life” (Sermon #1 from “The Coming of the King” series) Texts: Nehemiah 9:13-18; John 6:24-35 (primary text)
This passage tells us how the people who had been miraculously fed by Jesus’ multiplication of the fish and the loaves came to him, looking for more food. Jesus had other ideas: as the bread of life, he wanted to satisfy them spiritually, not just physically. We also often fail to look to Jesus for our ultimate satisfaction, instead seeking to be satisfied in ways which fall far short of the Bread of Life. The good news is that Jesus has plans to fill us up in ways that nothing else can.
