I Am the Gate

9/5/10 “I am the Gate” (Sermon #3 from “The Coming of the King” series)  Texts:  Psalms 95:1-7a, John 10:1-10 (primary text)

In this passage, Jesus implies that he is the good shepherd (whose sheep follow him because they know his voice), and that he is the gate for the sheep (which welcomes the sheep into safe quarters).  He is telling us that when we follow his voice, we receive the abundant life that we were created to enjoy.  The trick, of course, is to listen to his voice when so many other voices call out to us.
