The Coming of the King

John 18:1-14

9/26/10 “I am He (Who Wins the War)” (Sermon #6 from “The Coming of the King” series)  Texts:  Matthew 16:21-27; John 18:1-14 (primary text)

In the passage from John, we see Jesus keeping his eyes on the prize—he focuses on winning the war (being true to his mission of bringing us salvation), even though he loses nearly every battle along the way (and facing the cross because of it).  When we take up our crosses and follow him, we also focus on the war of being true to our mission, rather than the individual battles where we are tempted to lower our standards in order to win.
